West Berkshire and Lincolnshire jump aboard The Big Bus

The Big Bus signs deals with two more LEAs

The Big Bus, the provider of educational software for three to eleven year olds, today announces it has signed deals with West Berkshire and Lincolnshire LEAs.

The deals, with the products being purchased using electronic Learning Credits (eLCs), have led to The Big Bus being rolled out to more than 460 schools across Lincolnshire and West Berkshire.

The Big Bus has developed an educational resource based on sound learning principles, which set out to motivate and challenge pupils with its intuitive approach, problem solving techniques and clear developmental pathways.

The Big Bus provides children with a range of online educational activities and games that support the National Curriculum. It is available as an online subscription service to schools. Site licences are priced at £90 pa for nursery level or £180 pa for primary, and include the full use of the service by staff away from school. For LEA-wide licences, fees are negotiable.

Sue Nicholson, of the West Berkshire LEA, commented: “The National agenda required us to provide ISP services and bandwidth to all of our schools. We went about this by implementing a Wide Area Network, which services all educational units within our LEA. We were then faced with the immediate task of looking for good quality centrally hosted online resources.

“Our first sight of The Big Bus was at the BETT show. It was clear that we had found a resource that was educationally sound, appealing and easy for every teacher and pupil to engage with.”

Darren Pepper, of the Lincolnshire LEA, added: “We were under a lot of pressure from teachers and head teachers alike to install The Big Bus. Prior to purchasing it, we reviewed a number of educational software products and for us The Big Bus came out on top.

“We found the activities to have depth and breadth and to be very versatile. Children learn best when they are having fun and The Big Bus certainly achieves this.”
